On World Organ Donation Day, govt confers Suraj Award on 24

In a heartfelt tribute to selfless organ donors, 24 individuals were posthumously honoured with the Suraj Award at a state-level event held at Lok Seva Bhawan here on the occasion of World Organ Donation Day, Wednesday.

Presiding over the event, Health and Family Welfare (H&FW) Minister Mukesh Mahaling praised the donors and their families, calling organ donation a higher order of noble acts that enlivens others even after death.

He noted Odisha’s emergence as anational leader in organ donation, thanks to such inspiring contributions. “Your donations have not only saved lives of others but also brought honour to Odisha,” Mahaling said.

Welcoming the immediate family members of the organ donors, H&FW department Secretary Aswathy S said, “Words fail to describe the humanitarian acts and courage of the organ donors and their family members.”
