Non-students evicted from Utkal University hostels

Utkal University authorities, with the help of Commissionerate Police, Monday launched a massive drive to evict non-students staying illegally in several hostels in the campus for a prolonged period and vacated nearly 200 rooms.

The eviction drive was led by Anup Kanungo, Additional DCP, Police Commissionerate, and a large number of police personnel including striking officer, and traffic police. University faculty members, wardens and Vice Chancellor Jagneshwar Dandapat were also present during the drive.

According to reports, the operation was carried out at the Boys’ Hostel No1, 2, 3, 4 and 5. When the squad arrived at the hostels to vacate the rooms, the non-students fled, leaving the rooms locked.
