'District to be Maoist-free by March'

The state as well as Kandhamal district will be Maoist free by March-2026 in line with the Centre's plan to make the country free of extremists during the same period.
This was stated here by Odisha Director General of Police YB Khurania, who is on a two-day visit to Kandhamal and Boudh districts to review anti-Maoist operations and outline the final steps toward declaring the region free of extremist activity.
Khurania held a review meeting with senior police officials and the district superintendent of police shortly after arriving in Phulbani Friday evening. The discussions continued Saturday morning, focusing on strategies that he said are now close to final.
