Ahuja orders urgent steps on water crisis

Chief Secretary Manoj Ahuja chaired a secretary-level meeting at Kharavela Bhavan Tuesday to assess and discuss the implementation of various state government schemes for the fiscal year 2025-26.

During the meeting, he directed officials to prioritise addressing the ongoing drinking water crisis, particularly in districts severely affected by the heatwave.

With temperatures soaring across the state, the Chief Secretary emphasised the urgent need for ensuring the effective operation of water kiosks in Bhubaneswar and other regions.

He instructed concerned departments to act swiftly in response to media reports highlighting the growing concerns over water shortages and to take immediate corrective measures.

The meeting also addressed the status of staff vacancies across various departments, with a strong recommendation for regular evaluations and prompt recruitment to ensure smooth functioning.
