2 kids die of snakebite as family prefers sorcerer

Superstition and unreasonable delay in hospitalisation claimed the precious lives of two children, including an infant, due to snakebite at Rajpur village under this block in Nabarangpur district Tuesday.
The deceased were identified as Amita, 11, and nine-month-old Ruturaj - daughter and son of Hemabati and Sukuram Harijan of the village.
Owing to superstition, the family members took the siblings to a sorcerer after a venomous snake bit them during sleep late Monday night.
