Super success for mayor's civic appeal

NUNEATON and Bedworth's famed generosity will help a new innovative hospital unit. Locals helped former Mayor, councillor Bill Hancox to raise just over £46,000.

The Bedworth representative chose the breast care unit at the George Eliot Hospital to benefit from his year in the famed civic chains for a touching reason. His wife, the former Mayoress, Sheila Hancox, has herself battled breast cancer.
He set about to raise as much money as possible for the unit - which is set to move into a larger unit. Cllr Hancox was stunned with the response to his appeal.
Even staff on the unit joined in - with a plucky group taking on Mount Toubkal in Morocco, North Africa's highest peak to raise funds.
