Young people celebrating global cultures with giant tapestry

FAMILIES across Nottingham are taking part in workshops to create a giant 'around the world' tapestry for the Young Hustlers festival on October 19.

Young Hustlers, the music and art festival for children and families, is celebrating global cultures around the world through art, music and food when it returns to the streets and venues of Sneinton this year.

The tapestry is part of the community outreach programme for children and families with workshops coming up in St Ann's and Hyson Green. As well as taking part in the free creative workshops delivered by Freedom Arts, all the families will be offered free festival tickets to come along and see the finished piece.

Saziso Phiri, festival director, said: "The festival received a 130 percent funding uplift from Arts Council England this year as testament to its positive engagement activities. This has made us even more ambitious to engage with families and bring communities and cultures together for a wonderful day of creative fun and music.
