AFTER BUNCH OF PLATES, HAS MYSTERY FRUIT PERSON SPLIT?

- By GEORGE PALMER-SOADY

Yes, we have no bananas!

FOR residents of a Beeston street, spotting a plate of unpeeled bananas on the ground had been commonplace for more than a year.

On the second day of each month, the plate of fruit was placed by a mysterious banana bandit at the junction of Wesnor Avenue and Abbey Road - yet nobody knows why or who the joker is.

With the ap-peel-ing story spreading across the country and reaching the attention of the national press, many have been left with bated breath to see what happens next. Yet there had been no confirmed sightings when the Post visited the scene yesterday morning.

This has left some residents considering the future of the ongoing palaver. "That's that then - it's probably run its course," says Dean Walden, who walks his dog around the area regularly and has spotted the mystery fruit plate on a number of occasions.
