Work starting soon on £1.5m ex-Forces flats

The empty patch of land off Cross Street, Eastwood, where homes for former forces personnel will be built

INITIAL work to build £1.5m apartments for homeless former soldiers is set to start after a delay.

Broxtowe Borough Council completed its purchase of empty land off Cross Street in Eastwood's Hill Top for the new flats in October last year.

The council plans to build eight apartments - six one-bed flats and two disability-adapted two-bed flats.

The flats are for ex-forces people who are homeless or at risk of homelessness.

It was hoped the apartments would be available this year but now council leader Milan Radulovic (Brox Alliance) hopes building work will start by the spring.
