AN uninsured van driver drove forwards and backwards to deliberately ram two police vehicles which had boxed him in at traffic lights in Nottingham.

- By MARTIN NAYLOR

CCTV footage played at Nottingham Crown Court showed the Vauxhall Vivaro driven by Jahmaine Kennywell ramming the cars and causing damage to an innocent member of the public's vehicle.

Officers then had to smash the driver's side window to get the 24-year-old father-of-two out of the van and arrest him.

Then when Kennywell, a freelance engineer who works for his father, was interviewed, he denied that what he did was dangerous.

Imposing a 15-month jail term, suspended for a year, Recorder David Warner said: "You are 24 years old with no previous convictions but as the footage we have just seen shows that late in the evening you were driving the van and instructed to stop

"Officers had illuminated their blue lights, blocked you in and you deliberately tried to ram both cars.
