Tributes to 'nation's Nana' who became a Tik Tok star

TRIBUTES have been paid to a “beautiful, precious” grandmother who became an online sensation in heart-warming and hilarious TikTok videos with her granddaughter.

Norma Burton’s heartbroken family said she “fell to sleep peacefully” last week at the age of 91.

They made the announcement in an emotional post on social media, calling her “our everything” and thanking followers for making her final years “incredibly special”.

Norma and granddaughter Jess Asquith - simply known as Jess and Norma on TikTok - amassed more than 2.6 million followers on the app with videos showing their close bond through everyday activities like Norma enjoying some buttered toast, tucking into hot cross buns for Easter and trying out a curry.

The duo, from Retford, were even invited to turn on the Christmas lights last year at their favourite shopping centre, Marshall's Yard in Gainsborough. Their shared autobiography Jess and Norma: A Lifetime of Laughter and our Unbreakable Bond, is due to be released in July.
