HEAD coach Stuart Maynard credited his Notts County players with “a great achievement” after they secured their place in the League Two play-offs thanks to a 3-1 victory away against Harrogate Town.

Top seven spot guaranteed as Magpies end winless run

The Magpies climbed to fifth in the table having ended their fourmatch winless run to guarantee a top-seven finish with a game to spare.

They still have an outside chance of snatching third spot on the final day and ensuring they go up automatically but having had so many injury problems to contend with over the course of the season, Maynard insists his team has done well just to maintain a promotion push.

"It was a massive three points and it cements us in the play-offs, which is a great achievement for the squad with all the adversity we have had to come through this year with injuries and stuff," said Maynard.

"It is a credit to all of our lads and it is really pleasing but we are still disappointed as a group because of the standards we set ourselves.
