RISING out of the acid jazz scene of the early 90s, The Brand New Heavies were back on Tuesday night at Rock City to bring their signature jazz, funk and disco fusion to a crowd including some fans who were not even born when their defining Brother Sister album came out in 1994.

Meanwhile, those in the crowd who were there the first time around had a great trip down memory lane.

Original members Simon Bartholomew (guitar) and Andrew Levy (bass) were joined by the very elegant Angela Ricci, whose vocals were outstanding.

Opening with wonderful instrumental Wired Up, the bar was set very high for the rest of the night with a setlist that allowed the songwriting skills of Bartholomew and Levy to speak for themselves.
