Talks resume with doctors but NHS 'not out of woods'

THE Health Secretary is to resume talks with resident doctors in a bid to end strike action as he warned that the NHS is “not out of the woods yet” during its busy winter period.

Wes Streeting said talks must resume to “bridge the gap” between expectations on pay and “what the Government can afford”.
It comes after the NHS in England announced that 94.7% of pre-planned care went ahead as planned during the last round of strike action from resident doctors in December.
The five-day walkout took place from December 17 amid warnings that the NHS was dealing with an early spike in flu cases and other winter viruses.
