DEVELOPMENTS CREATING THOUSANDS OF JOBS
An image of what the old police headquarters and central fire station on Shakespeare Street, Nottingham, could look like
MANY parts of Nottinghamshire will be transformed next year as a series of construction projects create thousands of homes and new jobs.
These range from schemes to regenerate city areas that have lain derelict for years, to large residential projects to build whole new neighbourhoods, and one of the biggest industrial and logistics developments in the region.
Some of the housebuilding and infrastructure projects getting underway or continuing in 2026 will make a real difference to thousands of people around the county.
Nottingham's most important regeneration at Broad Marsh will continue to move forward - following the sale of the city's problem site - but other huge developments are progressing quickly away from the eyes of the city centre.
We've listed a few of the eye catching projects that could be coming to an area near you.
Homes England announced it had bought the former shopping centre, which is one of the largest vacant sites in any UK city centre, back in March this year.
Labour-led Nottingham City Council took on the site in 2020 following the collapse of the centre's former owner, Intu, and the Government housing agency says it is now seeking to realise the authority's masterplan.
The redevelopment of the land, which includes the cleared site to the west of the Green Heart, the NCP multi-storey car park, Severns House, and the old college site on Maid Marian Way, will pave the way for 1,000 new homes, up to 20,000 square metres of retail, office and community space.
