Starmer brushes off Trump remarks about China trade

SIR Keir Starmer has brushed off comments by Donald Trump warning it was “dangerous” for the UK to do business with China, insisting the president was “talking more about Canada”.

Mr Trump expressed disapproval of the Prime Minister's trip to China in remarks to reporters yesterday, saying: “Well, it's very dangerous for them to do that, and it’s even more dangerous, I think, for Canada to get into business with China,” he said.

He added that Canada was doing “poorly” and said “you can’t look at China as the answer”.

However, in broadcast interviews in Shanghai, Sir Keir said his visit had been “very successful”.
