'Special' new pub that offers something a 'bit different'
Nottingham Post
|April 12, 2025
"WE think it's special," says the owner of Nottingham's new pub, the Queen of Hockley.
For nearly 30 years the site, in Broad Street, was home to Revolution, which called time last year.
Today, it will open with a mix of food and drink plus live music and DJs aimed at what the man behind it, Matt Saunders, describes as an "older crowd".
Nottingham-born Matt said: "Hockley is a very exciting place to be opening a bar. It has a huge cross section of eateries and drinking holes and it's got a little bit of everything.
"There's a lot of good stuff going on. We're nervous we know we've got to be good when we open. We've got to get the quality right and the service right to stand a chance.
"Between us, the people who are involved in the Queen of Hockley have got many years experience and we have seen many things and we like to think we bring that experience with us. We are quietly confident that we are offering something good but it's no good me saying that, it's up to the people of Nottingham to decide and they will decide by coming to see us and choosing whether to come back or not. Hopefully everyone will like what we do."
