Solar panels to be fitted on three leisure centres

Harvey Hadden is now thought to be the largest solar-powered leisure centre in the country

SOLAR panels are to be installed on three Nottingham leisure centres to help bring energy costs down - using money from the East Midlands Mayor.

Nottingham City Council says the Clifton, Southglade, and Ken Martin leisure centres account for roughly 6.4 percent of the authority's energy budget. To bring costs down the council is expected to approve a project to install solar panels on all three leisure centres.

Energy cost savings are estimated to be £59,542 in the first year alone, and around £3.65 million over the lifetime of the panels.
