SHOPPERS CALL FOR VARIETY AND LOCAL TOUCH IN ARNOLD

FRUSTRATED shoppers say shops stay empty too long in their town centre, as new businesses move into empty units.

The Potato Stop, Peretz and Heaven Nails have all opened on Arnold's Front Street in the last few weeks.

The latter two in particular have provided a small injection of life after the parade of shops had been completely empty for months after Bonmarché, Arnold Top Clean and Nene's Flowers all closed, leaving six shops in a row vacant.

Peretz, a hair, wig and cosmetics shop, now occupies the unit where Sully's Bistro Café and Bar, which closed in May last year, had been.

Heaven Nails opened on Sunday, in the shop formerly occupied by Arnold Top Clean.

The other four units are still awaiting new tenants.

Kate Simpson, 72, explained that businesses unique to Arnold's high street would be welcome.
