The damage at Cropwell Bishop Co-op after a ram raid attack

POLICE are hunting thieves who carried out a ram raid at a village shop.

The raiders used a telehandler to smash into the front of the Coop and steal a cash machine.

The incident happened at the store in Nottingham Road, Cropwell Bishop around 12.50am yesterday. The vehicle, typically used in agriculture and construction, was abandoned at the site.

Richard Newbold, who has lived in the village for 28 years, said: “According to the village Facebook group, they scooped it out with the loader, dumped it in the back of a van or pickup and drove off.
