Pensioner suffered punctured lung during argument at pub

CCTV footage played at Nottingham Crown Court showed the pensioner fall and hit his body against a table after his friend was grabbed by Anthony Hurt.

Moments earlier, the 40-year-old defendant had to be dragged away from a confrontation after the man he grabbed called his partner a derogatory name.

Imposing a two-year community order, Judge Mark Watson said: "This is a case where the consequences were grossly disproportionate to the actions.

"This was a poor decision by you and you should have heeded your partner's advice when she was telling you to leave it. There was clearly animosity between you and [a man who was sitting next to the victim] and the footage I have seen does not necessarily demonstrate all that took place - there are always two sides to every story.
