Musical equipment shop closes after a 'tough few years'

A MUSIC shop in Nottingham has closed after the collapse of a nation-wide retailer which led to almost 100 redundancies.

Play Music Today (PMT) entered administration earlier this month due to rising costs, dwindling margins and the rising cost of living.

The retailer, which sells instruments and other musical equipment, had 11 stores across England and Wales, including one in Marco Island, off Huntingdon Street, in Nottingham city centre.

Administrators Interpath, who were appointed on June 11, said a total of 96 staff were made redundant, with 48 retained to help assist administrators.

The firm was unable to confirm how many redundancies were made at the Nottingham branch.
