Motorist admits causing death of social worker

A 31-YEAR-OLD motorist has admitted causing the death of a “dedicated” county council social worker in a road traffic incident.

Sarah Fensom died three days after she was involved in an incident on the A614 Old Rufford Road, in Farnsfield, on September 12, 2023.

In a tribute on the British Association of Social Workers website following her death, she was hailed as someone who “played a crucial role in securing convictions against a child grooming gang”.

Two years on, Lee Horsley, of Ollerton, was charged with causing her death through careless or inconsiderate driving. The accused fought back tears at Nottingham Magistrates’ Court yesterday, when he entered a guilty plea to the charge.

Members of both his and of the deceased's family were inside courtroom 15 to hear the plea.
