Magpies ‘impressed’ by new keeper coach

‘ENTHUSIASTIC’ SMITH IS NAMED AS COLLIS’ REPLACEMENT

DARREN Smith has been appointed as Notts County's new goalkeeper coach following the departure of Steve Collis to York City.

The 45-year-old, who had an established playing career as a goalkeeper at non-League level, has held roles of a similar ilk to the one he takes up with the Magpies at various other clubs.

Smith has been a coach with Ipswich Town, Colchester United, MK Dons, and, most recently, Ebbsfleet United.

He now joins Notts to take over from Collis, who had been at the club since the start of last season.
