Kurt Russell navigates grief and Montana in The Madison

Hollywood legend Kurt Russell was a little disappointed when he first laid eyes on the majestic Madison River, which flows through a valley guided by snow-capped peaks.

The spectacular vistas of central Montana are a key character in his new six-part Paramount+ series The Madison but Russell was banking on something more breathtaking.

"I was surprised," admits the 74-year-old star of films such as The Thing, Escape From New York and Overboard. "In Colorado, where I live it's much more dramatic than that. It's very pastoral, compared to what I'm used to in Colorado. But as I began to look at it more closely, through the lens of cameras on set, I knew it was going to look very, very beautiful."
