BRAVE REDS FAN EVEN GRABBED KNIFE

- By GEORGE PALMER-SOADY

HEROIC Nottingham Forest fan Stephen Crean - who confronted the knifeman in the horrific Cambridgeshire train stabbing - will always remember the five words the alleged killer said to him.

“He was waving this blade in my face and he said ‘Do you want to die?’ to me three times,’ Mr Crean said.

Twenty minutes after boarding the train from Grantham after Forest's match against Manchester United, Londoner Mr Crean saw people running through his carriage, shouting about a man with a knife.

After running to the buffet bar of the LNER service from Doncaster to London King’s Cross, people locked themselves in the bar room and toilets.

Mr Crean says he was left with no choice but to come face to face with the knifeman.

“It was a great big blade - an over-sized blade,’ he said.
