TROWELL'S ANNUAL DISCOUNT DAY GETS THOUSANDS OF SHOPPERS IN A FESTIVE MOOD
Village display is the largest in Europe Staff members Lucy White and Laura Buckley-Willers in their Christmas jumpers
A QUEUE of eager shoppers waited patiently for the doors to open at 8am yesterday to grab a bargain at a Nottinghamshire garden centre's annual Christmas discount day.
As they entered, “It’s Beginning to Look a Lot Like Christmas” played in the background.
Every year, Trowell Garden Centre, off Nottingham Road, Trowell, holds the one-day only event. With savings, from ten per cent up to 30 percent off festive decorations, the Lemax Christmas village collection, toys and games, and food and drink, it makes it an ideal opportunity to buy gifts.
Among those there to snap up a bargain was Liz Bate, who'd travelled from Arnold.
“She said: “It's the Lemax Christmas displays we love. We collect them. It’s good they do a day like this.
“We come here five or six times a year. It's got a lot of offer. We've bought plants in the past but the home things are lovely. I must admit we've never been in the cafe.”
Kat Rawson, from Stapleford, said: “I like the friendliness. The way you're treated here is above and beyond. The Christmas section is beautiful. They put a lot of work into it, you can tell. I have a little list... I'm after some of the lights and one of the Highland cow ornaments.”
