HORSE POWER Kelpie Grey is poised for another Ayr raid

KELPIE Grey looks well placed to provide Jim Goldie with yet another winner at Ayr in the Tennent’s Lager Handicap.

The Lanarkshire-based trainer has saddled over 300 winners at the west Scotland venue on the Flat and over jumps combined, significantly more than any other course in Britain.

Kelpie Grey himself has shown a liking for the track, winning twice and filling the runner-up spot three times from six visits, and there was plenty of encouragement to be taken from his comeback second here three weeks ago after 10 months off the track.

The five-year-old is only 2lb above his last winning mark and with ease in the ground to suit, he should prove hard to beat.

Hornsea Bay is another previous course winner of major interest in the Outcider Handicap.
