Homes for former school playing fields?

THE abandoned playing fields of a school that burned down could soon be taken up by 52 houses.

The fields once used by Sherwood Hall School in Mansfield are the subject of plans submitted to Mansfield District Council.

The Stuart Avenue school was destroyed by fire and reduced to rubble in 2011. The fields and tennis courts were separated as part of the redevelopment that built the school's replacement, Abbey Primary and Nursery, approved in 2015.

Nottinghamshire County Council officers, the landowner and applicant said the site had not been used as playing fields for more than ten years.
