HMO landlord fined after tenant complained about condition of bedsit

A LANDLORD operating an HMO bedsit has been prosecuted by a Nottinghamshire council after failing to comply with a series of notices and deadlines, prompted by the failure to provide information on the number of people living at the address.

Following a complaint from one of the tenants at the property in Watnall, Broxtowe Borough Council carried out an inspection of the HMO and served the landlord with legal notices, requesting copies of each tenancy agreement to the council.

The landlord failed to comply with these notices and failed to assist the council with its investigation, leading to the successful prosecution of the landlord as a result.
