YOUNG WOMAN HIT BY DISEASE PAYS TRIBUTE TO EFFORTS FOR MARINA BUILDING
A YOUNG woman diagnosed with brain cancer three years ago has raised more than £200,000 for a lodge designed to give respite to teenagers with the disease.
Hannah Roberts, 21, who was treated for glioblastoma in Nottingham, has successfully reached her fundraising goal and can now make her dream of a respite lodge for teenage cancer patients a reality.
After being diagnosed in 2022, Hannah and her family set up Hannah's Hope a charity fundraiser with the aim of raising £200,000 in order to set up a respite retreat for teenagers and young adults under the care of the Teenage Cancer Trust.
The fundraiser was set up with the goal of buying a lodge at Mercia Marina, near Willington, Derbyshire, which would become a respite space for families and patients.
On March 15, it was announced on the Hannah's Hope Facebook page that the fundraising target had been reached, and the family had reserved a lodge at the marina.
