...BUT MYSTERY REMAINS OVER WHETHER IT WILL BE IN HOME CITY

- By JOSHUA HARTLEY

Events firm eyes new entertainment venue

THE business behind the city’s Winter Wonderland and beach attractions is planning to set up a major new food and games venue for Nottingham - but mystery remains over exacrit whether it will be.

Mellors Group, the theme park and events company that takes over Old Market Square every summer and Christmas, has been branching out into permanent entertainment venues over the past few years.

The family-run business opened its first Urban Playground attraction, pairing food and drink with interactive games, in Manchester.

But even before that, it had planned to create the first of the new venues in Nottingham, but bosses concluded the original plan to set up in the former Isis/Black Orchid nightclub in Lenton was not feasible.

However, the business has now revealed in its financial filings that it is working on a new venue in a “prominent UK city centre” - but it has not revealed where this will be.

The mysterious new venue would be the third Urban Playground, as the Manchester opening in 2022 was followed by a second in Canary Wharf, London, in June last year.

The venues offer entertainments such as The Cube Live, where groups can play the popular TV show themselves, and hi-tech mini-golf

The new venue will open some time in the 2026 financial year, Companies House documents revealed.
