E-bikes seized in city crackdown on illegal riders

SEVERAL e-bikes have been seized from Nottingham city centre as police work to tackle the city’s illegal riding problem.

Neighbourhood crews were deployed to Trinity Square, Milton Street, Hockley and Old Market Square after concerns were raised about antisocial behaviour.

This included complaints about illegal e-bikes speeding on pavements, bikes failing to stop at red traffic lights and riding in areas not suitable for bikes.

Seven e-bikes that were being ridden illegally were seized on Monday.

Deliveroo and other delivery drivers were among those stopped for having throttles and high-powered motors, Nottinghamshire Police said.

Sergeant Dan Butler, of the City Centre neighbourhood policing team, said further enforcement days would follow.
