NOW that we're at the tail end of the pre-Christmas launch season for games and have chewed over some lacklustre and uninspired AAA stories, it often comes down to indie games to deliver narratives that are fresh and intriguing, often married with novel gameplay hooks.

This year's had a good crop too, with the likes of Hades 2 and Clair Obscur: Expedition 33 showing the bigger studios how it's done, while Skate Story joins the ranks to deliver something pretty unique.
