County co-opted into Union flags campaign

NOTTINGHAMSHIRE is among the latest counties to have become embroiled in the controversial Operation Raise the Colours campaign, with Union flags appearing at roundabouts and painted on roads.

The campaign, which started in Birmingham and London, follows a string of anti-illegal immigration protests across the country, including in Sutton-in-Ashfield and Newark.

England flags have been painted on zebra crossings and broken road markings on Mickledale Lane and Eakring Road in Bilsthorpe, in breach of National Highways safety recommendations.
