Council pledge on empty building

NOTTINGHAM City Council insists it wants to bring an empty community building back into use despite one campaigner willing to take it on being met with over a year of silence.

The former Muslim Community Organisation (MCO) building in Sneinton has mostly stood empty since its closure last year and one campaigner is hoping to transform it into a vital community space that he believes could help reduce the scourge of knife crime in the city.

Naveed Rashid serves as an ambassador for the Nottinghamshire Violence Reduction Unit (VRU) and chairs both Sahara Mental Health and the anti-violence charity Down Knives and Gloves Up.
