Coach accuses youth club over gym's decline

A BOXING coach has hit out at the management of a youth club over the deterioration of the gym he rents.

Buckets full of rainwater are dotted around DCT Boxing Academy, based at Hyson Green Youth Club, which has been left with damp, mould and no hot water.

Collapsed and bloated floorboards also present hazards, while members are frequently forced to spar in a sodden ring.

The deterioration is so bad that the club has refused to pay rent, sparking a row with the committee which runs the building.

It has since been locked out of the gym without being served an eviction notice, according to coach Derrick Osaze, who accused the committee of “mismanagement”

The youth club’s chair of trustees said meanwhile that the cost of repairs was too high, and the gym had been closed for “health and safety reasons”
