FISH BAR'S BASEMENT HAS BEEN TRANSFORMED

A HIDDEN bar has opened in the basement of a Nottingham chippy. Tucked away beneath Lace Market Fish Bar, Kika is a cosy new haunt, opening late afternoon until the early hours.

The table-service venue has 17 classic cocktails on the menu including Mojitos, Espresso Martinis and Margaritas. There's one draught beer, Victoria Malaga, bottled beers, spirits, wines and soft drinks.

But what makes Kika truly unique is that fish and chips are served there form the takeaway in Stoney Street.

Scampi, chicken nuggets, veggie burgers and wraps with chicken or doner meat can be ordered with extras of battered sausages, fish cakes, curry sauce and mushy peas.

Also there is the Bergin-ator, named after former Panthers ice hockey player Kevin Bergin, comprising chicken or doner in a naan bread with chips and cheese.

A door adjacent to the chippy, takes customers down a set of stairs to the bar within the Grade II listed property that was built around 1896 and originally used as a warehouse.
