Carer used victim's bank card to buy clothes and cigarettes

A NOTTINGHAM care worker used a “vulnerable” paranoid schizophrenic man’s bank card to buy items for herself.

Nottingham Crown Court heard how Nicola Palmer took more than £1,700 from the now 63-year-old victim when she cared for him at Nottingham City Council-run Albany House, in St Ann’s.

The 41-year-old, of Carlton, would use the card legitimately to buy food and other items for him, but also steal his money for things for herself.

The fraud was discovered when another carer took over and found discrepancies in his bank statement and a police investigation was launched.
