Fire crews were called out to the Walkden Street Car Park after the top floor caved in
THE demolition of a car park that was ordered after part of its top floor collapsed has been pushed back after the building’s landlord, Tesco, started legal action.
The Walkden Street car park, in Mansfield town centre, was due to be demolished in October after the collapse on August 30, which was attended by emergency services and forced nearby shops to evacuate.
Following the collapse, Mansfield District Council, which leases the building and is responsible for its maintenance, quickly announced it had decided to demolish the 1970s building, which would start on October 20.
