A NOTTINGHAM café owner has revealed the struggles of running an independent business after choosing to close down while he “still had control over it”.

Cafe closes - but owner says it's not the end for Wandering Goblin

Saul Aaron was only 23 when he decided to take the plunge and start his own business.

With eight years working in the industry behind him, Saul had a desire to create a space without significant financial support or “compromised morals, ethics and sourcing”.

And so the Wandering Goblin was created, first as a popup café on the back of a bicycle on Sneinton Avenues and then, only six months later, settling down on Derby Road.

Saul says that the business gained traction “a lot quicker” than he expected after he opened in October 2023. And, despite its closure on August 10, he says the Wandering Goblin isn't “going under".
