Burglar struck four times at the same student accommodation block

A NOTTINGHAM burglar targeted the same student accommodation repeatedly during a spate of break-ins.

Nottingham Crown Court heard how on one occasion the occupant was in and, woken by the noise, looked out of her bedroom spyhole to see 27-year-old Christos Iona and an accomplice stealing a TV.

On previous burglaries, at Graduation House in Chilwell, Iona forced his way in and helped himself to food and an arcade game. And his offending did not stop there as he also targeted a number of stores and shops in Nottingham, stealing clothing, food and alcohol.

Jailing Iona for four years, Judge Steven Coupland said: “Plainly a custodial sentence has to follow.
