Access road breakthrough in plans for new homes

PLANS have been revealed for new homes in Toton and a solution to a problem that has prevented thousands more from being built.

Bloor Homes and Peveril Homes have submitted a planning application for 155 homes east of Stapleford Lane to Broxtowe Borough Council.

The proposed homes are part of the 1,500 planned in Toton under the council's masterplan for the area, which also includes turning Chetwynd Barracks into 1,200 new homes after it is closed by the Ministry of Defence.

The large-scale transformation of the two sites has been delayed by the closure of the army installation being pushed back by the MoD and discussions on how to fund the link road needed to serve the thousands of new dwellings.

The new plans have now shed some light on the planned link road to the A52 - which council leader Milan Radulovic previously said would need to be funded with the help of developers.
