Hospital redevelopment starts as £22.7m is granted

WORK is starting on a major redevelopment at North Devon District Hospital (NDDH) after it was finally awarded £22.7 million to begin making its plans a reality.
The Royal Devon University Healthcare NHS Foundation Trust has received the money from the Government's New Hospital Programme to fund the rebuilding of staff residences at NDDH, in what forms a key step in phase one of its Our Future Hospital (OFH) programme.
Demolition of two existing residential blocks begins this week, with work continuing for approximately three months to make way for modern accommodation designed to support NHS staff and students.
Chris Tidman, deputy chief executive officer of the Royal Devon Trust, said: "This is an important step in the Our Future Hospital programme and marks a significant investment in the future of North Devon District Hospital.
