Community spirit shows at VE day commemorations

RESIDENTS of Bideford came together to mark the 80th anniversary of VE Day with a poignant evening of remembrance and celebration held at Pollyfield.

The event featured a programme of music, tributes and community spirit that paid homage to the sacrifices made during the Second World War.

Doors opened at 6.30pm, with Cllr Jude Gubb taking on the role of master of ceremonies for the evening. Proceedings began with a performance of pipes and drums in the hall, setting a ceremonial tone for the commemorative evening.

There was also a buffet, music from the era provided by CMC Productions, performances from the town band, who played both before and during the Tamsin Ball event.
