After months of planning, the opening day of India’s flagship AI Impact Summit descended into chaos, as patchy mobile networks and organizational lapses left participants from around the world disappointed midway.

Exhibitors reported low footfall and confusion over entry rules on the first day despite paying high participation fees.

Still, exhibitors remained hopeful of stronger footfall over the next four days, buoyed by the presence of Big Tech firms and some of the world’s largest technology companies, which they expect could drive business opportunities.

Amid tight security preparations ahead of Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s inauguration of the AI expo, thousands of visitors, exhibitors, foreign delegates and even VIP speakers were left stranded without access to basic necessities such as water or stuck in overcrowded hallways.
