Top US defence official Elbridge Colby will visit India as the head of a delegation later this month to inject momentum into the two countries’ defence ties after months of diplomatic tensions.

- Shashank Mattoo

According to persons privy to details of the visit, New Delhi and Washington will discuss speeding up pending defence acquisitions. They will also consider reviving forums such as the INDUS-X to boost ties between defence firms. Colby, who serves as under secretary of war for policy, is widely thought to be a key figure behind US defence policy in President Donald Trump’s second term. This will be his first visit to India.
