Russian President Vladimir Putin confirmed on Thursday that Russia had tested a new intermediate-range missile in a strike on Ukraine, warning that the weapon could be used against nations that allow Ukraine to launch strikes on Russian territory.

Putin's announcement, made during a nationwide TV address, came in response to Ukrainian missile attacks earlier this week, which involved US and British missiles targeting Russian territory.
The Russian leader assured that Russia would provide advance warnings before launching strikes on other countries, allowing civilians to evacuate to safety. He also dismissed the effectiveness of US air defence systems in intercepting Russian missiles, reinforcing Russia's growing military capabilities.
