A public interest litigation (PIL) has been filed in the Supreme Court calling for a nationwide inquiry and systemic overhaul of drug safety protocols after the reported deaths of children in Madhya Pradesh and Rajasthan, allegedly linked to toxic cough syrups.
Filed by advocate Vishal Tiwari, the petition seeks a court-monitored probe and the creation of a National Judicial Commission or Expert Committee headed by a retired Supreme Court judge to investigate the incidents.
