Manipur: Rescue ops underway to trace 6 missing persons after militant attack

According to a local Meitei group, all six belong to same family

Rescue operations are underway in Manipur's Jiribam district to trace six missing persons, including three minors, following an attack on the Borobekra police station by suspected militants, the state police reported on Tuesday.

The attack, which also targeted a nearby CRPF camp, resulted in the deaths of at least 10 militants, according to officials. However, a senior government source placed the toll at 11.

The incident occurred on Monday afternoon, marking a violent escalation in the ethnically sensitive district. Between 2.30 pm and 3 pm, armed miscreants attacked Borobekra police station and the CRPF camp.

Jakuradhor," said IGP (Operations) I K Muivah. "The attackers used RPGs, AK and INSAS rifles, and other sophisticated weapons. In the ensuing retaliation, 10 militants were neutralised, and one CRPF jawan was injured and evacuated for treatment in Assam," he said.
